Lockdown Love <3

Lockdown love is free nature experiences to do at home and close to home, during lockdown, or, anytime really.

Nature is the ultimate nurturer and is just outside waiting to help…reduce stress, improve mood, gain clarity, inspire curiosity, creativity and invigorate mind and body.

Check out the free resources below designed to make it easy to connect with nature in fun and engaging ways, these are perfect to share with children at home, online or back at school. And also just for you.

Before you dive into the nature experiences I’ve got a few tips for nature connection:

  • let your children play in nature

  • encourage them to explore

  • support them to wonder

  • let them lead their experiences

  • join in with them, if they ask

  • leave school work if its stressful, this time will not set them back

  • let them get dirty or wet

  • remind them to be kind to nature

  • let them roll, balance, climb, hang, run, be slow, or do what ever their bodies need (safely)

  • let them simply be

Our Nature Experiences

These experiences are adapted from my in-school resource that accompanies my Nature Education Training Programme for teachers, available online and in-person (when not in lockdown). The nature experiences are designed with primary school aged children in mind, but can easily be adapted for early childhood settings and they are great for us big kids too. The nature experiences on each card are a wonderful starting point for nature play and exploration, each experience will naturally evolve into further so let your children take the lead and see what magic unfolds.

Start Here

First, read the ‘Lets Get Ready’ card below, this explains how to use the cards and follow the experiences, don’t worry it’s easy. After you’ve done that, pick a card and experience you like the sound of, click the image to open it then read it and head outside to connect with nature.

Important Note

To access the nature experiences click the card images below, the file will open and you can read them, viola, you’re on your way to fun and adventure in nature.

Make a Nature Notebook

I always like starting with this experience as you can use your notebook on some of the other nature experiences. Click on and read the ‘Nature Notebook’ card below and also watch the video below to see how it’s done.
